ARTICLE XII Prohibited Uses

§197-60. Uses prohibited in all districts.

Generally, the following shall be prohibited anywhere in the borough in any zoning district:

A. The manufacture or storage of



(1) Explosives or fireworks.

(2) Liquids or gases which are flammable or explosive when mixed with air in sufficient proportions or which are toxic or poisonous if inhaled; provided, however, that this section shall not be deemed to prohibit:

(a) The storage of heating or cooking fuel for consumption on the premises if such fuel is stored in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 94, Fire Prevention.

(b) The storage of gasoline, motor oils or other petroleum products by a gasoline service station, public garage or fuel oil dealer if such petroleum products are stored in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 94, Fire Prevention.

B. Trailers or recreational vehicles used as residential dwellings.

C. Carousels, shooting galleries, pony rides and similar commercial amusements.

D. Junkyards, scrap yards and recycling centers or facilities.

E. Discotheques or similar dancing facilities.

F. The maintenance, storage, display or deposit of any motor vehicle which is either disabled, unregistered or unfit for use as transportation for a period of 30 days, unless such vehicle shall be stored indoors in a permanent structure, which shall be fully enclosed.

G. Any trade or industry or use that is offensive by reason of the emission of odor, dust, smoke, gas, noise, vibration and waste products.

H. Self-storage facilities or mini-warehouses containing separate, private and individual storage spaces of varying sizes, leased or rented for varying periods of time.

I. Tattoo parlors

J. Body piercing parlors

K. Adult book/Video stores primarily dedicated for erotic or x-rated material

L. Massage parlors
