The regulations and standards set forth in this chapter are for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of this township However, if an applicant can demonstrate that because of peculiar conditions relating to his application or to his land it would be unreasonable or impossible to enforce one or more of the regulations or requirements set forth herein, or that it would exact undue hardship upon the applicant, the reviewing board may permit such variance or variances as may be reasonable and within the general purpose and intent of the rules, regulations and standards herein established, in which event the reviewing board shall in its resolution set forth its findings of fact and legal conclusions supporting said action
